Rookhurst Country House is located in the beautiful, peaceful
village of Gayle in Wensleydale, close to the historic market town of
Hawes in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
We are very easy to find:

Directions to Rookhurst:
From M6 Junction 37 - Take the A684 to Sedbergh and Hawes. On
the western outskirts of Hawes the B6255 is signed to Ingleton on your
right and, 50 yards past this junction is another road on your right
signposted for Gayle, Kettlewell and Wensleydale Creamery (Gayle Lane).
Take this road and proceed 600 yards to where the road has a sharp L.H.
Turn. DO NOT CROSS THE RIVER BRIDGE! At this point there is a narrow
road to your right - take it - ROOKHURST is 300 yards on the
right.
Allow 1 hour from the M6.
From M6 Junction 34 - Take the A683 towards Kirkby Lonsdale,
go through Melling and, after about 1 mile, turn sharp right onto the
A687 towards Ingleton. When you reach the A65 (Kendal - Skipton Road),
turn right, go over the steel bridge and look for a left turn to Hawes
on the B6255. Be careful here, the signage is poor. After about 100m
there is a crossroads - go straight across and continue to Hawes. You
approach Hawes on the B6255 mentioned above, so turn right and right
again into Gayle Lane. Now follow directions in the previous paragraph.
From A1 - 11 miles south of Scotch Corner, the A684 crosses
the A1 near Leeming Bar. Take the A684 westwards through Bedale, Leyburn,
Wensley and Bainbridge to Hawes (about 31 miles). Follow the one-way
system into Hawes and proceed to the western end of the Main Street.
Look for the turnoff to the left signed for Kettlewell and the Creamery.
Now see the final directions coming from M6 J37 above.
