Our Accommodation...
Rookhurst Country House has five en-suite guest rooms, all with
full sized baths so that you can have a leisurely soak after your days
exertions! Room No. 4 (The Butler's) also has a power shower.
Each room has it's own distinctive character depending upon which part
of the house it is in.
Our
Victorian Rooms:
Our
Pre-Victorian "Rustic" Rooms:
Colour TV and tea & coffee making facilities are standard in all
our bedrooms.
Our Dining Room, Drawing Room and Garden:
Our Garden has colour and interest for most of the year and there are
superb views out across Wensleydale and the surrounding fells.
Our comfortable Drawing Room looks out over the garden with views to
the fells. Outside there are a series of carved portrait heads which
adorn the bay window. Inside, the carved stone corbelled supports for
the pitch-pine beams, show five rustic scenes relating to the nesting
lives of birds and one which depicts a squirrel. Pre-dinner drinks are
served from the large sideboard and can be enjoyed beside the log fire
on the colder evenings. Games and a card-table are available for those
who require them.
Dinner is served in our splendid Victorian Dining Room with views out
over towards the village of Gayle. Dinner is always a set menu of four
courses, using only the finest local produce and is changed daily. Dinner
is an informal affair - where we encourage guests to relax and share
their day's experiences with each other.
