Welcome to Rookhurst Country House...
Richard and Judith Hynds welcome you to Rookhurst - a country
house set in the heart of beautiful Wensleydale in the
Yorkshire Dales National Park. The atmosphere here is of a small
friendly country house, rather than a formal hotel. After all, Rookhurst
is our home, and you are our guests! Dating back to the 17th century
in places, the house has a unique character with each room being different
in its own special way.
Rookhurst fronts the Pennine Way, on the edge of the picturesque village
of Gayle, overlooked from the south by Dodd and Wether Fells, with beautiful
views towards Stags Fell and the Butter Tubs pass to the North.
It is an ideal base for exploring Herriot country - the Yorkshire Dales
are a delight for both serious walkers and strollers. Nearby is the
Carlisle to Settle railway and you can be collected from Garsdale Station.
Just round the corner is the Wensleydale Creamery, and in the market
town of Hawes (8 minutes walk), the Upper Dales Folk Museum.
Mellow Yorkshire stone, traditional architecture and such a peaceful
setting make Rookhurst a perfect place to enjoy a few
days away from it all.
Let us pamper you with our relaxing service, superior en-suite dinner,
bed & breakfast (B&B) accommodation and our wonderful food.
This really is a special place to spend some time.
Non-smokers will appreciate our smoke-free ambience.
Children can be a joy but there are times when they should neither
be seen nor heard, particularly someone else's! So we are child-free.
Dogs are welcome to stay in your car, but not in the house.
Have Dinner and a bottle of wine - no need to drive.
A warm Yorkshire Dales Welcome awaits.
