Welcome to Rookhurst Country House...

Richard and Judith are pleased and sad to announce that, as a Guest House, Rookhurst is no more. The property has been sold for private family occupation and is thus returning to its original usage. In the current political language, we are retiring "to spend more time with our family".

Rookhurst was our Retirement Job which we started in November, 1998
(in the last century!) and now we are going to retire properly (?). We have met hundreds of lovely people from all walks of life, from the ancient aristocracy, retired miners and prison officers, to Government Ministers, all of whom have enriched our lives beyond measure. It must be admitted that we did have one or two Guests who were the proverbial pain in the..... but we suffered those gladly because of the other Guests who gave us so much pleasure.
